thought I would update you on the affect the new irons I bought from you mid June have had on my game.
As you know you recommended slightly longer and lightweight shafts; together with the new heads and grips. The first thing I noticed was that I seemed to be pushing the ball to right on a number of occasions, but eventually sorted that out. With each game I became more comfortable with the clubs and I was finding that I was hitting the ball farther and more like I used to some years ago. Anyway I played on Saturday, and given that the conditions for golf were good I was hoping to play somewhere near my handicap of 13. My driving was above average but the irons were tremendous. I was so comfortable, hitting most of the greens in regulation, and hitting irons that previously I would have not used. I would have taken a utility club or an extra iron or two. I played the first 8 holes to scratch and then dropped 7 shots on the next ten holes, three putting three times. I ended up two shots from winning the Board competition, with a 6 under par 64. If only the putting had been as good as the irons !
My son who you met, was playing with me said that it was good to watch, it seemed so effortless hitting nearly every green. On the seventeenth, I hit a poor drive, and was 190 yards from the pin, which was over the hill. Hit a easy 5 iron for safety to land in front of the green and last years club champion, who was playing with us, shouted "shot of the day!" I got over the hill and the ball was 8 foot from the pin. Yes I did miss the put! The point is that not only am I hitting the ball further I am also more accurate, due to the irons you recommended.
It's taken me six weeks but I can now say that the irons have made a big impact to my game. My other son told me to not use the utility clubs and get used to the longer irons again. The 3 is not there yet but the 4 is getting better. You did say that you wanted me to be able to throw away the 24 degree utility club. Well I've not used it for 4 weeks as the irons are now doing the job.
The next thing I would look at is sorting out the fairway woods that I have and possibly the driver although I am reasonably consistent with it. I am still trying to get my son and other golf partner to visit you.
Anyway, many thanks, no doubt I will see you soon
regards
