GOLF: LADIES captain Helen Morton and team captain Gill Lamming were delighted with their team selections as Sleaford Ladies got off to the best possible start in their attempt to gain promotion with a win away to Kirton Holme.
In the opening pairing, Sleaford's 2 handicap golfer Helen Butterfield, and her partner Sheila Dewsnap gave Sleaford a convincing win.
This was followed by Gill Lamming and Margaret Walsh consolidating the teams position with a half.
The last two pairs of ladies captain Helen partnered by Hayley Taylor and Sandy Fullerton with Gilly Worth who made sure of a convincing 31/2. to 1/2 away win.
In their first home match they continued their good start to the season with a 3 - 1 win over Burghley Park.
Sleaford's top golfer Helen Butter•field continued her winning run, this time partnered by Ellen Phipps, there were also wins for Sheila Dewsnap / Gill Lamming and Val Clark/Margaret Walsh.
In the Ladies County Seniors at Market Rasen Sleaford's Gill Lamming scored a gross 84 to come a creditable 3rd. Gill is playing excellent golf and is a major part in the successful Sleaford Ladies team.
She was also successful in a partnership with her husband Peter, Ann-Marie Coleman from Elsham and local professional Tom Rastall in a Pro Am at Boston Golf Club, when their score of 13 under par was good enough to come a creditable third, only losing runner up spot on a count back.
Glenda "the Eagle" Budd has been successful again.
This time she won the Silver Putter with an outstanding five under par 41 Stableford points.
Over the weeks she. has seen her handicap tumble to 27.
Runner up, five shots behind was the ever consistent Joan Carpenter. This is the second time Joan has been runner-up in recent weeks as she only just lost the May Brown medal on count back to winner Madeline Fenemore.
Liz Drayton and Hazel Panton had a win in the Australian Spoons competition, beating the runner up partnership of Di Heyes and Jacki Manders by three points.
Liz and Hazel now go forward to the Divisional finals in June at the Bury St Edmunds Golf club in Suffolk.
