Dear Andy,
Following my first introduction to you some 13 months ago, when you took me down to the local driving range to carefully assess my swing etc.,and your subsequent choice of shaft and grips to suit my existing club heads ( irons only ) - you replaced my woods completely and charged me only for the shafts and grips - I promised to keep you advised of my progress, be it good or bad.
I hope by choosing this particular time to do so will not have an adverse effect on the future, but hear goes....
Of the individual competitions I was entitled to enter, I have reached the final of one yesterday ( the Senior`s over 55 years ) and have reached the semi-final of the other two. In doing so, I have taken the scalps of some very good players, including the club champion, off 5 handicap and others off
9,13,19 and 21, so if I win no more matches I will remember this year for some time to come. In the one against the 13 handicap I was 5 down after
11
holes and beat him on the last . At the weekend, I won the Division 3 competition at the Club Championship shooting a net 67 and 68 in the afternoon. The same club champion shot a course record of gross 68, but thankfully not when we played our match play !
Because of you I am now playing so confidently and as keen now as I ever have been. I practice most days, particularly around and on the greens as you advised me to do, on a previous occasion.
You may perhaps recall that previously I had been to the County club and supposedly been fitted with suitable clubs, at great expense, and found it to be a complete shambles - the grips were too big and the shafts too long - and I was on the very point of giving the game up completely.
All I can say is a big thank you to you and feel so lucky to have been introduced to Designer Golf at Rushden.
John Higginbottom
