After a really poor 5-6 months while trying to change my swing, and no it definitely wasn't the clubs causing the problem as I tried 2 other sets of blades during this period with even less success, I am finally beginning to play reasonable golf again.
We had our first "honours board" competition of the year Saturday, the Briggs cup which I won with 42 pts (gross 69). I was particularly pleased as I had worked up from 3.8 to 4.4 since the season started, so Saturday was a pressurised round for my own ego! It's also pretty unusual for low handicappers to win full handicap Stablefords.
Just an additional note to say that I also won 2 other alliances and a number of team events last year, including a couple of mixed opens, as well as the Great Glen Pro-Am, (twice, as the first time got rained off with about 3 cards to come in).
I managed to win over £600 in various vouchers and prizes during the year, which more than paid for my clubs.
My playing handicap was 4 when I won the Leicestershire Alliance, they just cut my Alliance handicap to 3, not my playing handicap. I finished the Alliance season playing off 2! I'm hoping to get there for real this year.
